The sun was shining for Kivells’ fifth collective property auction of the year, with sales reaching an impressive £1.7 million; a total of over £8,500,000 worth of land and property sold by this method of sale so far this year.

There were six quality lots on offer at Kivells’ May auction, stretching from Bude and Tintagel on the North Cornish Coast down to the Cathedral City of Truro in the centre of western Cornwall.

With residential property, land, farms, and a former B&B on offer throughout the evening at Lifton Strawberry Fields in Devon, bidders in the auction room, and online, were keen to secure their desired lots.

One of the star lots of the evening was Wheal Andrew Farm in Twelveheads. This detached three-bedroom barn conversion, in need of modernisation and set within approximately 3.5 acres, exceeded its guide of £250,000, selling for an impressive £365,000.

Higher Goonleigh Cottage in Carbis, Roche received huge amount of interest in the run up to the auction, reinforcing the power of Kivells’ strong marketing campaigns. This substantial detached cottage, with a vast array of outbuildings set in 0.43 acres, saw the hammer fall at £395,000, £145,000 above its guide, to the delight of the vendor.

Sunnyside, an attractive south facing detached farmhouse with over 4 acres of land in Gooseham, Bude sold for £490,000 against a guide of £450,000.

Interest was also high for Old Millfloor, a unique period property with approximately 8.5 acres of wooded valley side, located within 15 minutes’ walk of the beach at Trebarwith. This former B&B, in need of modernisation, exceeded its guide price of £375,000, selling for £400,000.

Land continues to be in high demand across the west country with South Woolley Orchard, an attractive 3 acre orchard and paddock located in Woolley, Bude, selling for £50,000, £5,000 above its guide.

Kivells Area Manager and Property Auction Manager, Sam Turner MNAEA, commented; ‘With the sun shining on the first of our many summer collective auctions, it was spectacular to see the results achieved for the properties, and I am delighted for all of our vendors.
